Diversity – When is it important?
Diversity in mycorrhizal fungi is important, but it’s also important to be semi-selective in the process! For instance, popular products on the market have a variety of mycorrhizae, but some of them do not actually contribute to the system. For instance, products that contain ectomycorrhizal fungi are only beneficial when dealing with strictly woody-stemmed plants like trees and will not assist in the uptake of minerals in soft-stemmed plants like fruits and vegetables.
