Micronutrients - Zn

Zinc (Zn)

Zinc uses carbohydrates to perform a variety of tasks within a plant system. It converts starches to sugars, activates enzymes that stimulate plant protein synthesis, assists in the formation of plant auxins responsible for stem elongation and even helps plants withstand cold temperatures. Zinc deficiency appears as necrotic spots and must be addressed before the damage becomes irreversible. Zinc is needed in VERY small amounts but deficiency appears quickly and the line is very thin!

Tune in next week as we continue our micronutrient discussion with Manganese!
